Richard Lee Lawson (born March 7, 1947) is an American actor and producer. He is perhaps best known for his roles in genre films; he portrayed Ryan in the 1982 film Poltergeist, and Dr. Ben Taylor in the 1983 NBC miniseries V.

Lawson was born in Loma Linda, California, and raised in Hayward, California. He attended Hayward High School and Chabot College. After graduating from college, he was drafted into the United States Army and served as a medic in Vietnam. After completing his military service, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

Lawson’s first feature film role was in the 1971 film Dirty Harry, in which he played an uncredited gay man who is targeted for murder. He went on to appear in a number of other films, including Scream Blacula Scream (1973), The Main Event (1979), and Streets of Fire (1984). He also had a recurring role on the television series The White Shadow (1978-1981).

In the 1990s, Lawson began to focus more on producing. He produced the films For Colored Girls (2010) and Black Nativity (2013). He also produced the television series The Game (2006-2015) and Being Mary Jane (2013-2017).
