This colossal sum marks Starc as the highest-paid player in the history of the Indian Premier League.
The auction, known for its surprises, saw both Mitchell Starc and fellow Australian Pat Cummins commanding staggering amounts, surpassing the INR 20 crore mark. While Cummins found himself signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 20.25 crore, Starc’s acquisition by KKR after an intense bidding battle with Gujarat Titans stole the show.
Starc, who last appeared in the IPL in 2015, will make a return to the league, donning the KKR jersey. Interestingly, his former team, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), remained notably absent from the bidding process, having previously chosen Alzarri Joseph for INR 11.5 crore.

This figure decreases to 6.44 lakh if KKR progresses to play 16 matches, reaching the playoffs and finals.
With his history of pulling out of the IPL despite significant auction earnings, all eyes are on Starc’s commitment this time, especially given his substantial IPL salary and the looming T20 World Cup scheduled immediately after the conclusion of the league.
